THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS-SIGHT AND SOUND THEATER

We have two tickets available for Friday November 22nd’s trip to Lancaster. Tickets are $65.50 each, transportation is available.  The trip will leave the Covenant Center at 8:30 am and will return around 11:30pm.  We have dinner reservations for the Good and Plenty.  Please contact Merissa Smith if interested. 

 

DECORATE THE CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS

Everyone is invited to come help decorate the church for Christmas on Tuesday, November 26th beginning about 8:30 AM. We are usually finished around noon.

Come when you can and stay for how long you are able.

TAX SEASON?

Did you know that money given directly from your IRA to a qualified charity like FUMC does not count as federal taxable income? If you are taking distributions from your IRA and then using that income to give to the church, that money is then taxable is especially important in our retirement years to make the most of the finances that God has given us. You may want to take advantage of the IRA Charitable Rollover as authorized by Section 408(d)(8) of the Internal Revenue Code for a once-yearly donation saving you taxable income money. Please contact your financial advisor for more information or you may pick up more information in the church office.

POPCORN SALE

       Order forms for our sale of Double Good Popcorn are here. The profits are used to support Rainbow Road.All your favorite flavors are here in snack bags, jars, value bags and gift sets. The sale ends on Sunday, Novemer 24th. The popcorn will be here before Christmas so you can shop early. See Linda Scaife 724-664-5347. 

 

FAMILY GAME NIGHT

The Fellowship Committee is sponsoring a Family Game Night on Saturday, November 23rd from 6:00-9:00 PM in the Covenant Center. Bring your favorite game or cards to play and drinks and snacks to share if you can. This is for children, adults and everyone.

 

FRIDAY NIGHT CIRCLE

Friday Night Circle will be held on Thursday, November 14th at 6:00 PM in the Covenant Center. We will have a Thanksgiving Pot Luck Dinner and Christmas Family Planning night.

 

NOVEMBER SIFT LUNCHEON

November SIFT Luncheon will be Thursday, November 21st at noon in the covenant Center. The Menustuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Corn, Green Beans, Cranberries, Roll & Butter and Cake. The Program is Antarctica Travelogue  presented by Mary Jo Lipski. Reservations are due by Monday, November 18th.

NOVEMBER MISSIONS

November’s projects will offer two different choices:

          1. Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, remember to include the $9 for shipping and handling. You may opt to give on line through Follow YOUR BOX and find the destination of your shoeboxes. OPERATION CHRISMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES DEADLINE IS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH. NO LATER

          2. Our local FOOD BANK- starting November 10th tables will be provided for us to place canned goods and non-perishable food items on for needy families in our area. Especially needed are: peanut butter, cans of tuna, canned fruit. Give generously so others may have food.

          May your heart and soul be blessed as we send love (in practical ways) to those who are in need. Blessings, Your Missions Committee

 

HE BREWS COFFEE HOUSE

The youth have set up a coffee house in the Library Room. They have coffee (from a Keurig) and some muffins. This is by donation. All donations go towards the youth group fundraiser. Please help yourself. Thank you

 

FREE THANKSGIVING DINNER

Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church is hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner at our Covenant Center on Thanksgiving Day from noon until 2:00 PM.  All are welcome!  Although the members of the Baptist church are preparing and serving the food, they would like you to know you are welcome to come help that day too! You can help prepare food from 10:00 AM till noon, serve food from noon until 2:00 PM or clean up at 2:00 PM.
