Prelude

Opening Prayer

Ever present God, you taught us that the night is far spent and the day is at  hand. Grant that we may ever be found watching for the coming of your Son. Save us from undue love of the world, that we may wait with patient hope for the day of the Lord, and so abide in him, that when he shall appear, we may not be ashamed; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

IT’S PICNIC TIME!

The ARC Charge will be having a summer worship service and picnic on August 25th at Crooked Creek Park. Worship will begin at 10:00 AM followed with food, fun and fellowship. We will meet at the Freedom and Constitution Pavilions. The pavilions will be available for us until 2:00 PM. Alex Hollinger will be leading us in praise and worship. A free will offering will be collected for him.

We are asking that everyone bring a dessert, salad or side to share. Hot sandwiches and beverages will be provided by each church. Manorville will provide serving utensils and would appreciate help at the church following the picnic to clean them.

You may want to bring a folding/camping chair along so that we can all worship together

in one pavilion. Please be prepared to give a free will offering to Alex Hollinger. Members are encouraged to make their regular offerings to their churches either the week before or after the picnic.

Wear your best picnic outfit and come with us as we worship our Lord together!                                                                             Blessings, Pastor Deb

(Our corn hole tournament will continue for the 3rd year. Come with your best throwing arm).

BLESSING OF BACKPACKS

We will have a blessing of backpacks on Sunday, August 18th. All school aged childen are encouraged to bring their backpacks to worship for a blessing.

AUGUST MOVIE ON THE LAWN

We will be showing “Beauty and the Beast” on Saturday, August 17th at 8:30 PM. A FREE and fun night out for everyone. Bring a blanket, kick back and relax. Popcorn and refreshments provided.

CHRISTMAS THEATER TRIP

We are entertaining the idea taking a group to see Miracle of Christmas at the Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster, but we need to know how many people would be interested in going.  Tickets are becoming very limited so we need to know very soon if there is interest.  In the case we cannot get tickets for Miracle of Christmas, we may try to get tickets for a Christmas show in Pittsburgh.  Depending on the number involved we may try to book transportation.  Please let Merissa Smith know by Aug. 25 if interested in either option (724)859-3558

CHURCH WINDOWS

Our beautiful church home requires constant upkeep just like your house.

Take a close look at the window frames. Many are peeling badly. And if you start counting the number of windows, you can quickly see that it is not a small problem. Last year a couple dedicated men scraped, sanded and painted the windows along the ramp. We would now like to finish the remaining windows along that side (facing the parsonage).

First work session- Saturday, August 17th, 8:30-noon

                   Second work session-Monday, August 19th- 8:30-noon

Please indicate your availability on the response cards or call Mary Jo Lipski, 724-545-2289. Also-if you know any person who might work on additional windows for modest pay, please let us know. If you would like any of these dates, please write on your connect card or see Audrey. Thank you

AUGUST MISSION

In August, our church family will “finish strong” as we collect about $500.00 more to complete our share of funds for RISE AGAINST HUNGER. This international hunger project distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable. Do you know that there are 821 Million people across our world who do not receive enough nutrition to lead an active healthy life?

*In 2018, 430,000 volunteers helped in RAH

*In 2018, 794,700 lives were impacted by RAH.

Consider contributing to this needed project in helping people across our world…eat!

In September, our church family will host RISE AGAINST HUNGER on September 21, 2019 from 9:00 AM-Noon, in the Covenant Center. AS host church, we have added responsibilities as we prepare for 90+ volunteers. Check out our list of needs and see how you might help:
