BUILDING A LIBRARY

A lot of you know by now that my son, Derek, his wife Tara and their 3 girls Allie, Lila and Macy lost everything in a house fire 2½ weeks ago. No one was home at the time. Their 2 dogs and cat made it out safely. They were fully insured. A lot of you are asking me how you can help them.  I have been thinking on this. They don’t need any more clothes. One thing that is very important to mom, dad and the girls are books. The girls are read to every night before bed. The night of the fire they went to put the girls to bed and realized they had no books to read to them. They moved into this house this past spring so the girls started school at a new school this year. While they were touring the elementary school they went into the Library and Lila started to cry. Tara asked her what was wrong. Lila said “the library is so beautiful, look at all those books”.

So I thought the church family might want to start to build their library back up for them with books and movies.  They love all kinds of books and kids movies.

The girls are in different stages of reading. Allie is in 2nd grade and is beginning to read easier chapter books. Lila is in 1st grade and reads the harder, beginning to read books and Macy is preschool age and just loves all books. They also had a lot of Dr. Seuss books and Disney movies. I will have a basket by the railing next Sunday if you want to donate books.

Thank you for all the prayers and support for them these last 2½ weeks. As Macy says “our house is broken”. And we add, but the family isn’t.

UPDATE:

The insurance company is renting them a house in Saltsburg to stay in while their house is being rebuilt. Apollo-Ridge school district is bussing the girls to school so they can stay in the same school. The rebuilding should start in the next week or so.                                                                                            Audrey
