ARC CHARGE CONFERENCE

The ARC Charge Conference will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:00 PM at First UMC in the sanctuary. Suzy and Byron will lead us in a time of worship before we begin the meeting. Rev. Jim Pond will meet with members of all SPRC, Nominations committees and Lay Leaders at 6:00 PM. Please plan to attend.

SUNDAY SECURITY

We now live in a world where acts of terrorism are commonplace and we must consider security for our congregation. Beginning Sunday, October 6, 2019 the ramp and Vine street doors will be locked at 11:10 AM. There will be signs on these doors directing worshipers to the front door where an usher will admit you. Thank you for adapting to our new normal.               Trustees

TRUNK-OR-TREAT

Trunk-or-treat will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Covenant Center parking lot. Come dressed in your favorite costume for a fun filled evening of all treats and no tricks. Hot dogs and S’mores on the bonfire to follow, weather permitting. Donations of hotdogs, Buns, Graham crackers, marshmallows and candy for trick or treat are needed. See insert to sign up.

WORKNIGHT

Trustees are having a work night on Monday, October 14th at 4:00 PM. Everyone is invited to come help clean up around the church and Covenant Center to get ready for winter. Flowers need cut off and bushes trimmed and weeding needs done. Bring clippers, rakes and gloves.

OCTOBER MISSIONS

Our charge church family will join together in an October Missions project: collecting underwear for men, women, boys and girls of the House of the Carpenter, Wheeling, WVA. We have learned that often people living in poverty do not have enough money for underwear (it’s not a must), so we are going to help out. Bring in any sizes, kinds, brands, and colors of underwear…and let’s clothe those who do not have enough cloths. It’s a respectful and loving thing to do! Items will be collected on November 11th. God Bless.

FINANCIAL UPDATE

The September Financial Update is available in the Church office for all interested.

OCTOBER SIFT LUNCHEON

HE BREWS COFFEE HOUSE

The youth have set up a coffee house in the Library Room. They have coffee (from a Keurig) and some muffins. This is by donation. All donations go towards the youth group fundraiser. Please help yourself. Thank you

CROP WALK

Sunday, October 13th will be The Crop Walk.  It starts in Ford City Park at the gazebo and heads to the rails to trails covering around 3 miles. The Crop Walk is sponsored by Church World Service and walkers collect donations that then go oversees to provide clean water, books, animals and seeds.  All that and more is provided while 10% raised is able to stay in the communities that held the walks for their local food banks. This is a wonderful program and every year two special members of Ford Memorial Methodist Church are able to walk together through the Grace of Jesus Christ.  These women had to relearn to walk as adults after different medical issues nearly took their lives.  Bethany Frerotte is now able to walk with only the assistance of her service dog, Bridge.  So, we are asking for donations in Bridge’s name from all our charge members.  Let’s bridge the gap between our churches and be unified in Christ’s work, thank you.

COMMUNITY AWARENESS DAY

Monday, October 21st Holy Family Institute will be hosting the Community Awareness Day-Family Celebration Night at the Lenape Vo-Tech Gymnasium from 4:30-7:00 PM. It will include free entertainment, crafts, games and refreshments for children, teens and families. Everything is free.
