VBS STUFF

VBS is fast approaching:

~Remember if you took VBS scenery things from the Library Room, please have them back to the church by next Sunday, June 3rd, and thank you to all who helped with this.

~Our set up day for VBS is going to be Friday, June 15th starting at 9:00 AM. Hope you can help this day.

~I am looking for stuffed animals that I could borrow and use for props (raccoons, chipmunks, squirrels, bears-I need one that is about 2-3 ft tall, opossums, skunks and any woodsy animals. I would need them before Friday, June 15th and you can have them back on Sunday, June 24th. Please let Audrey know ASAP if I can borrow any.

~I can also use the crumpled brown paper that comes in boxes as filler when ordering on line.

 MARGARET M. PATTON/JEAN ELGIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Attention High School seniors and college students—applications for the 2018 Margaret Patton/Jean Elgin Memorial Scholarships are available from the church office. Application deadline is Thursday, May 31, 2018.

 

ESTATE SALE

  

The Estate Sale of Bob & Jean Schaeffer will be held on June 8, 9, & 10th at 140 Schaeffer Lane, Kittanning PA  16201(spaces corners area). Some items include collectible porcelain dolls, collectible John Deere toy tractors, memorabilia/signs from John Deere and Stihl dealership, Department 56 collectibles, ceramics, household items, books, holiday decorations, furniture, tools, albums and lots more. Something for everyone! Hours of sale will be Friday, June 8th 8:00AM-7:00 PM, Saturday, June 9th 8:00 AM- 7:00 PM and Sunday, June 10th from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM. (for GPS use address 873 ST RT 28 & 66-Pinecreek Baptist Church and watch for signs).

 

VBS 2018

JUNE 18th-22nd         9:00-12:00 PM

We will be doing Cokesbury’s Rolling River Rampage-Experience the ride of a lifetime with God.  Many VBS CREW LEADERS are needed for his year’s Rolling River Adventure. Crew Leaders can be teens or adults of any age!

What does a VBS Crew Leader do?

          Update the Attendance sheet each morning

          Keep your group of kids together/safe during the morning

          Get your group to the next station on time (there are steps to go

                     up/down)

          Collect nametags at end of day

          Check out children to parents after closing

          Remain in the sanctuary until all children are released to parents

          Have fun in the morning!

          Nap in the afternoon!

RUMMAGE SALE

Rummage Sale Donations

Our annual rummage sale will be on Sat, June 9 form 8:00 AM-1:00 PM in the Covenant Center (CC).  You may bring in your donations anytime beginning on Wed, May 30 until Sun, June 3.  Please place donations in the large room near the altar/stage area (area will be marked).  If you need me to unlock the door to the CC for you, please call me at 724-664-6867.  We accept any donations except clothing and electronics.  On Sat, June 2, Pastors Wade and Ali will be having a moving sale of their own at the CC.  You may still bring in donations during that time (and make a purchase from their moving sale).  Also, we will accept donations of baked goods to sell on June 9.  Please call me or see me in church to determine a time to drop off baked goods if you cannot drop them off on the morning of the sale.  THANK YOU!  Kim Yankasky

 

Rummage Sale Work Schedule

We will need a lot of help to organize and price items for the rummage sale during the week of June 4.  A BIG thank you in advance for helping during any of the work sessions listed below!

Mon, June 4:  9:00-11:30 AM and 6:00-8:00 PM

Tues, June 5:  9:00-11:30 AM

Wed, June 6:  9:00-11:30 AM and 6:00-8:00 PM

Thurs, June 7:  9:00-11:30 AM (additional times may be added for Thurs and Fri if needed)

Of course we will need help during the sale and especially at 1:00 on June 9 to clean up after the sale.  We will box up leftover items, sweep the floors, clean up the kitchen, take down tables, etc.  We have a lot of fun during the week of preparation and during the sale and hope you will join us!

 

SUMMER CAMPS

Time to sign-up for summer camp! Summer camp brochures from Jumonville, Wesley Woods and Camp Allegheny are at each door. The church will pay for full tuition the first year of camp and 50% for the years after that.

 

LIBRARY NEWS

The First United Methodist Church Library is NEVER CLOSED! Please feel free to visit our library anytime you are in our church.

Remember our nursery (with parent paging system) is available to all children thru 4 years during Sunday School and Worship.

We extend our Christian compassion and concern to the family of Shirley Heckman. Shirley passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018.
