Call to Worship

Come to Christ, all who are weary and carry heavy burdens.

In Christ, we find rest.

Bear Christ’s yoke and learn from him.

In Christ, we find peace.

For Christ is gentle and humble in heart.

In Christ, we find safety.

Christ’s yoke is easy, and his burden light.

In Christ, we find strength.

Come to Christ this day. Wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.

*Opening Hymns: “Jesus Loves Me” No. 191

“Lord, I Want to Be a Christian” No. 402

*Opening Prayer (Matthew 11)

Welcomer of weary travelers, we have carried our burdens long and yearn to lay them down. Give us your rest and your peace, even as we take your yoke upon us, for your yoke is easy, and your burden is light. Amen.

JULY MISSIONS - STOP HUNGER NOW…

RISE AGAINST HUNGER!!

Our July Missions focus will help build our financial goal of $1100 for the Stop Hunger Now event. So far this year, we have collected $320, so we have a good amount to contribute. This year has brought about some changes in this international project. The main changes have been a name and logo change…..so instead of STOP HUNGER NOW, the name will be RISE AGAINST HUNGER!

Our church family has the exciting opportunity to participate financially and/or in an assembly line, ‘hands-on’ process to package about 30,000 food packets. Believe me, it is an amazing event. This annual fall event will be on Saturday, September 24 at the Oakhill Fire Hall in Apollo. The fire hall will provide the needed space as the 80+ volunteers build these packets, box them, and place them in the trucks. The New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Apollo, is hosting this event.

Let Janet McKelvey know soon if you are interested in being a volunteer! We need at least 10 volunteers and lots of money to support this 8 church event. God Bless!

ART SHOW APPLICATIONS

The First Church-Sponsored Covenant Center Art Show (our 24th) will be August 3rd thru August 6th in conjunction with the Fort Armstrong Folk Festival. Application blanks may be picked up in the church office or by calling the church to have one put in the mail to you or you can print one from our website. Application deadline is Thursday, July 20th.

CHURCH MEMBER LOOKING FOR RENTAL HOUSE

Hey guys - some of you are already aware but I thought it would be worth posting here anyway. I (Jeff Hankey) accepted a teaching job at West Shamokin High School for next year, so my wife, 2 year old son, and I are moving back to the Kittanning area sometime this summer. We're selling our house here in West Virginia, and are looking to buy in Armstrong at some point, but we need to find a rental as soon as possible while we get our feet under us. We are assuming we will be renting for a year or so. If anyone knows of any 3+ bedroom houses (not apartments) that are for rent (or for sale that the owner would be willing to rent out to reliable tenants), please let me know or get ahold of Sue Hankey or Audrey Green.

A little about us: We're both teachers, so we have a dependable income. We have rented other places before owning our current home and have never been late on a rent or mortgage payment. We're the type of people that you'd want to be living in your rental! I grew up in FUMC, so there are lots and lots of people there that can vouch for me!

NURSERY

Remember our nursery (with parent paging system) is available to all children thru 4 years during Sunday School and Worship.
